Here's a children's story I wrote today::
Papa takes me out for ice cream when he gets paid just enough.
He takes me every Sunday
Even on a cold day
He says "Ice cream is good for kids like you,"
The milk in it can make my skinny baby bones strong.
What should I choose today?
If I eat ice cream,
Chocolate Ice cream
I can swing through the trees like a monkey,
I can swing all the way to school and everyone will want a ride!
I can climb up the biggest branches,
Find the best bananas
The best for papa and me
And we'll never feel hungry again.
If I eat ice cream,
Strawberry Ice cream
I can fly like a Toucan bird,
And take papa on my wings!
I will reach the sun,
It's always sunny on the sun
Winter will never be too dark again.
If I eat ice cream,
Vanilla ice cream
I will grow a white coat
Thick as a polar bear
So I can trek through the snow
With papa on my back
He can wave to all the people down below,
Their faces will be amazed
And we will never feel cold again.
But Today I want Ice cream,
Caramel ice cream.
With the light and dark swirls
They look so pretty.
The caramel is salty and strong,
Chewy and sticky
While the icecream is creamy,
Sweet and drippy.
Together in the perfect mix.
If I have icecream,
Caramel Ice cream
I can be the world
The people and the animals,
The forests and the sea.
We will all of us be happy
Together in the perfect mix.

That's a really good story! Very Happy
I like it because you didn't try to make it into a poem.

You are a good writer! You understand human stuff, and can put it in words that are entertaining. Razz

But this story would be criticised in America by people who think it's cruel for all the children who are lactose intolerant, or for all the children who don't have papa's that care about them. Confused Rolling Eyes

That would be one of those whimsical children's books with lavish illustrations and just a few words on every page. Sometime I pick those up in the store and read them because they're usually so fun and creative!

I'm gonna get my cousin to do the illustrations, and it's gonna show the family is in poverty. The papa wants to treat his child, so when he has a little money he spends it on icecream for his kid.

It should be a nice story for families who don't have a lot of money. Ice cream doesn't cost too much, but it's a great treat!

I can draw stick figures. Laughing

I just read your ice cream story, and it seemed like new again! It was fun rereading it. Very Happy

And I groaned again when I reread David's post about drawing flies. Rolling Eyes Laughing

There are lots of little treasures buried on this forum. We need to donate all this to the Smithsonian. Smile

I can picture a team of scholars digging through all 92,000 posts looking for 'treasure'. Shocked

That would be like digging up a landfill looking for stuff you could sell on eBay. Which really happened...

Wow Shocked that's crazy!

Hmm in the Internet ancient history archives we have some competition:: http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/j/jewel/you_were_meant_for_me_crd.htm <these chords were put up like 9 years before the forum was created. Shocked I wonder what that person is up to now?? Smile
The difference is that our content is 70% yodel related Razz

The guy was obviously a huge Jewel fan. Razz
1997? I hope he is still alive. Smile

I didn't know the internet even existed back then. Shocked

After research...

--The internet was created in the early to mid 1980's, but nobody is sure of the exact date.

--The internet became commercialized in the 1990's, but nobody is sure of the exact date. Rolling Eyes

--Less than 24 hours after the internet was born, the first spam post appeared. (Just my guess - NOT fact.) Razz

--In 1995 about 24 million people were using the internet.

--In 2012 more than 2.4 BILLION people have used the internet, over 1/3 of the world's population.

What are the other 2/3 of the world doing? Shocked
