Here Ilinca does a yodeling song that I'm pretty sure comes from Austria. This is some very technical yodeling and is in hi-def audio/video. Enjoy...

She has talent!! Very Happy

And she isn't all European, here she is doing probably the most popular yodel song in America, at least in the opinion of this forum...

The shoe changing song (in the first post) seems to be Ilinca's signature song because she has done it many times on stage and on TV. I wonder if it was written by her or for her? I've never heard this song anywhere else and the style is definitely not American or Western European (Eastern Europe has no distinct yodeling style of its own). We don't know what the lyrics are but it seems to be about a self-doubting girl who gains confidence in her femininity.

The version posted above seems to have broken sound (sound coming out of left channel only, so here is another version with better sound. But you have to skip to 1:22 to start the song because of the long introduction....

Thanks for the better version! Smile

I agree with what you said about that song, and it fits Ilinca well as it combines yodeling with a little bit of acting. I think she's telling us a story, with a happy ending! Very Happy

I love people who tell a story in singing a song. That's what Ilinca does. She's a good singer, yodeler and actress. Awesome!!
I love her cover of He Taught me to Yodel!

The shoe song is like a Broadway musical number. Except for the yodeling.

An interesting thing about "He Taught Me to Yodel" --every time you hear it it by a different artist it sounds like a different song. Surprised Sometimes it sounds like a different song at different times by the same artist! Shocked

I especially like this version by Ilinca. Hmmm...let's see if I can explain why. When you are yodeling you are singing intervals and those intervals go together in pairs to make chords (2 note chords) with the accompaniment filling the hole to make the third note of each chord. With this performance by Ilinca I hear the chords and the chord changes coming from her voice alone with crystal clarity, more so than with any other singer!

I'm interested if anyone else can hear what I'm talking about.

(The video pieces together shots from the stage and from a mall, and the mall sound is better).

I have no idea what you're talking about, but she sounds amazing to me. At the end her yodel has a few extra syllables when compared to most yodelers, but she makes it sound effortless and easy.

There are so many different versions of "He Taught Me to Yodel" that I never seem to get tired of it. Everybody does it in a different way. Very Happy

For sure. I notice that when Taylor is doing the yodel chorus part (as opposed to the verses) where the phrases end with "ti" she often sings "ti-yay" and clips each phrase very short. But go back and listen to the last Illinca link. She takes the "ti" and the end of each phrase and sustains it so long it breaks into vibrato, almost like an opera singer compared to Taylor
(timer = 0:42 thru 0:60).

I'm not saying that's better, just totally different! Surprised
